Chidambaram Nedumaran, a retired CBCID officer now battling Alzheimer's, is haunted by an unresolved case involving a serial killer nicknamed the “Smile Man”, who carves grotesque smiling faces on victim corpses. Five years after his accident, the killer resumes activity. Believing time is running out—he has under a year before memory loss erases his past—Chidambaram begins to suspect a copycat. At a book launch, he reconnects with Aravind, son of his missing colleague, and partners to uncover the killer.
Through flashbacks and present-day clues, they learn that Chidambaram inadvertently shot Aravind’s father Venkatesh, mistakenly assumed to be the original killer—when in fact the true culprit is Prabhu, a mortuary employee whose twisted obsession led to a series of murders. In a tense climax, Chidambaram confronts and kills Prabhu, but due to his memory condition, fails to fully recall the victory. The film ends with Chidambaram placed in rehab, partially aware yet unable to reclaim his recollections.
