Apartment 7A (2024) is a psychological horror film directed by Natalie Erika James, serving as a prequel to the 1968 classic Rosemary’s Baby. Set in 1965 New York City, the movie follows Terry Gionoffrio (Julia Garner), an ambitious dancer whose career is derailed by a severe ankle injury. Struggling with addiction and despair, Terry is offered a rent-free apartment in the Bramford building by the seemingly benevolent elderly couple, Minnie and Roman Castevet (Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally).
As Terry settles into her new home, she experiences unsettling dreams and discovers a talisman necklace and a ballet slipper labeled "Joan Cebulski," hinting at a dark history. The Castevets introduce her to Broadway producer Alan Marchand (Jim Sturgess), who casts her in a show. However, after a disorienting evening, Terry awakens with fragmented memories and learns she is pregnant.
Terry's attempts to uncover the truth lead her to a grimoire depicting demonic rituals and a passage from Revelation 12:9. Realizing she is entangled in a satanic cult's scheme, she seeks help from a back-alley abortionist, but supernatural forces thwart her efforts. In a climactic confrontation, Terry discovers a ritual chamber in the building's sub-basement, where she confronts Alan and a horned figure. Overwhelmed, she ultimately takes her own life by leaping from her apartment window.
