The narrative follows Autumn Edison, portrayed by Lumi Pollack, who spent her early years in the Amazon rainforest. During this time, she formed a unique bond with a black jaguar cub she named Hope. Tragedy strikes when Autumn's mother, an ardent animal rights activist, is killed by poachers, prompting Autumn and her father to relocate to New York City. Years later, at the age of 14, Autumn learns that her childhood village is under threat from animal traffickers and that Hope may be in danger. Determined to save her friend, Autumn embarks on a journey back to the Amazon, accompanied by her biology teacher, Anja Shymore (Emily Bett Rickards), who, despite her own fears, joins the mission to protect the rainforest and its inhabitants .
