The Silent Planet (2024) is a sci-fi thriller set in a future where prisoners convicted of serious crimes are sent to distant planets to serve life sentences. Theodore, an aging and terminally ill prisoner, has spent years alone on a remote penal planet, mining alien minerals and slowly losing his grip on his memories. His isolated existence changes when Niyya, a young woman convicted of terrorism, arrives as the planet’s new prisoner. As they begin interacting, Niyya discovers that Theodore may be connected to a tragic event from her childhood involving the Oieans, a peaceful alien species who raised her. Theodore himself struggles to distinguish reality from his fragmented memories, and the mysterious effects of the planet’s environment make both prisoners increasingly suspicious and paranoid. Their relationship eventually forces Theodore to confront the truth about his past, while Niyya must decide whether to trust him and find a way to escape her own painful history.
