Project Hail Mary (2026) is a science-fiction adventure film that follows Ryland Grace, a former molecular biologist and school science teacher who suddenly wakes up alone on a spaceship far from Earth with no memory of how he got there. As his memories slowly return, he discovers that he has been sent on a desperate mission to save humanity because a mysterious alien microorganism called astrophage is draining energy from the Sun and threatening to freeze Earth within decades. While investigating a nearby star system for a solution, Grace encounters an intelligent alien named Rocky who is on a similar mission to save his own planet. Despite their differences, the two form an unlikely friendship and work together to find a predator organism that can destroy the astrophage. In the end, Grace sacrifices his chance to return home in order to save Rocky and ensure the solution reaches both planets, proving that cooperation and friendship across species can save entire worlds.
