Two Sisters 2019

Two Sisters (2019) is a Malaysian psychological horror film directed by James Lee. The story centers on two sisters, Mei Yue and Mei Xi, who reunite after Mei Yue's release from a psychiatric institution. They return to their abandoned family home, where unsettling events begin to unfold, leading to the revelation of a dark family secret.
Mei Yue (Lim Mei Fen) is discharged from a psychiatric hospital and is taken in by her older sister, Mei Xi (Emily Lim). The sisters move into their long-abandoned family home, which has been left untouched for years. As they settle in, strange occurrences begin to happen—doors slam shut on their own, eerie figures are seen in the corners of rooms, and personal items appear in unexpected places. While Mei Yue seems to be recovering, Mei Xi starts to experience a decline in her mental state, questioning her own sanity.

The tension escalates as Mei Xi confronts Mei Yue about their mother's sudden death, leading to accusations of betrayal and impersonation. The film builds to a twist revealing that Mei Xi has been hallucinating the events, and it is Mei Yue who has been caring for her all along. The tragic family secret is unveiled: Mei Xi was sexually abused by their father, which led to their mother's suicide. The haunting manifestations in the house were manifestations of Mei Xi's repressed trauma.
