The Witch: Revenge (2024), also known as The Witch of Konotop (Ukrainian: Конотопська відьма), is a Ukrainian horror film directed by Andriy Kolesnyk and written by Yaroslav Voytseshek. The film intertwines elements of folklore, war, and supernatural horror, drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of Ukrainian mythology and contemporary events.
Set in the historically rich town of Konotop, renowned in Ukrainian folklore as a birthplace of witches, the story follows Olena (portrayed by Tetiana Malkova), an ancient sorceress who has forsaken her powers to live a peaceful life with her mortal lover, Andriy (played by Taras Tsymbaliuk). Their idyllic existence is shattered when Russian forces invade Ukraine, and Andriy is brutally killed by occupying soldiers.
