Thandel (2025) is a Telugu-language romantic action thriller directed by Chandoo Mondeti, featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in lead roles. The film is inspired by real events from 2018, when fishermen from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, inadvertently entered Pakistani waters and were detained by Pakistani forces.
Set in the coastal village of Matchilesam near Srikakulam, the story follows Raju (Naga Chaitanya), a dedicated fisherman who assumes the role of "Thandel" (captain) among his peers. He shares a deep bond with his childhood sweetheart, Satya (Sai Pallavi). Due to the demands of his profession, Raju spends nine months each year fishing near Gujarat, maintaining contact with Satya through infrequent phone calls and cherished moments during his brief returns home.
