Hidden from human perception, the products at Shopwell’s Grocery Store — sausages, buns, bagels, and more — wholeheartedly believe that being bought by humans means ascension to the utopian “Great Beyond”. The protagonist, Frank (a sausage voiced by Seth Rogen), shares this dream with his bun girlfriend, Brenda ([Kristen Wiig]).
When a jar of honey mustard is returned to the shelf and reveals that humans consume them, not take them to paradise, most products dismiss the warning—except Frank. After the jar’s dramatic prophesied "suicide," Frank, Brenda, and a motley group of groceries (including Sammy Bagel Jr. and Kareem Lavash) fall off the cart and must navigate the supermarket’s chaos while uncovering the horrifying truth of their fate and rallying to resist their human captors.
