The story unfolds when two weddings are accidentally booked on the same day at Palmetto House, a quaint inn on a private island in Georgia. Jim Caldwell (Will Ferrell), a widowed father, has reserved the venue for his daughter Jenni's (Geraldine Viswanathan) wedding. Simultaneously, Margot Buckley (Reese Witherspoon), a Los Angeles reality TV producer, has booked the same venue for her sister Neve's (Meredith Hagner) wedding. Both parties arrive to find the double booking, leading to a chaotic and comedic weekend as they attempt to preserve their families' special moments.
