Sulthan (2021) is a Tamil-language action drama directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, featuring Karthi in the titular role alongside Rashmika Mandanna in her Tamil debut. In 1986, gangster Sethupathi's wife dies during childbirth, leaving behind their son, Vikram, affectionately called Sulthan. Raised by Sethupathi's 100 loyal henchmen, Sulthan grows up in a world of violence but chooses a different path, becoming a robotics engineer abroad.
Upon returning in 2021, Sulthan finds his father critically injured from an attack by disguised assailants, leading to Sethupathi's death. Discovering that the attackers were police officers aiming to eliminate gangsters, Sulthan seeks to reform his "brothers" and is granted six months by Commissioner Manickavel to do so without any legal infractions.
