"Transformers: One" is an animated prequel to the Transformers franchise, set on the home planet of the Autobots, Cybertron. The movie explores the origins of the eternal conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons, focusing on the formative years of key characters like Optimus Prime and Megatron, and how their ideological differences shaped the fate of their world and beyond.
The story begins long before the Autobots and Decepticons are fully entrenched in battle, when Cybertron was a peaceful and thriving society. The inhabitants of Cybertron, known as Cybertronians, lived in harmony, developing a highly advanced civilization built on technological innovation and unity. Optimus Prime (then known as Orion Pax) is a young, idealistic worker who believes in peace and order, working as a simple archivist and researcher.
On the other side of Cybertron, Megatron, once a promising and respected leader, has become increasingly disillusioned with the corruption and inequality of the Cybertronian government. He witnesses the suffering of the lower classes and the exploitation of resources by the elite, fueling his desire for revolution. Megatron's growing frustrations lead him to form a faction, the Decepticons, who aim to overthrow the ruling order and create a new, more powerful regime.
As the conflict between the two factions escalates, Orion Pax's life changes when he encounters Megatron, who seeks to recruit him into the Decepticon cause. Torn between loyalty to his people and his desire for justice, Orion eventually embraces his role as the leader of the Autobots, taking on the mantle of Optimus Prime, a symbol of hope and freedom. The tension between the ideologies of Optimus and Megatron deepens as they lead their respective factions toward war.
