"Mirg" is a haunting psychological thriller set in the dense, mysterious forests of Himachal Pradesh. The film delves into themes of fear, isolation, and the primal instincts of survival, blending folklore with a contemporary narrative.
The story follows Dr. Arjun Kapoor, a renowned wildlife biologist, who is sent to a remote village near the Mirg Forest to investigate a series of bizarre animal attacks that have left the local community terrified. Arjun, a man of science, is skeptical of the villagers’ claims that a mythical beast, known as the Mirg, is responsible for the attacks. According to local legend, the Mirg is a spectral deer-like creature that emerges from the depths of the forest during the harshest winters, preying on both animals and humans.
As Arjun begins his investigation, he is accompanied by Anjali, a spirited local guide with deep roots in the village. Anjali is torn between her belief in the old legends and her desire to trust in science. Together, they venture into the heart of the forest, encountering eerie signs that challenge Arjun's skepticism: strange claw marks on trees, half-eaten animal carcasses, and whispers of something watching them from the shadows.
The forest, beautifully yet ominously depicted, becomes a character in its own right—its towering trees and creeping fog creating an atmosphere of constant dread. As the line between myth and reality blurs, Arjun's rational mind is tested, especially after they discover a series of ancient cave paintings depicting the Mirg in grotesque detail. These discoveries hint at a chilling connection between the beast and the village's history.
Tensions rise as the attacks become more frequent and closer to the village. The villagers, gripped by fear, begin to revert to ancient rituals, hoping to appease the creature. Arjun finds himself caught between his duty to protect the community and his own growing fears that the Mirg might not just be a legend after all.
