"Kanjoos Makhichoos" is a heartwarming comedy-drama that tells the story of a miserly man whose penny-pinching ways lead to a series of humorous yet touching events that change his life and the lives of those around him. The story revolves around Jamnadas, a middle-aged man living in a small town, known far and wide for his extreme frugality. His miserly ways have earned him the nickname "Makhichoos" (stingy) among the townspeople, who often make fun of his obsession with money.
Jamnadas lives with his wife, Kavita, and their young son, Sunny. While Kavita tolerates his stinginess, she longs for a more comfortable life where they don’t have to scrimp and save on everything. Sunny, on the other hand, is embarrassed by his father's miserly reputation and wishes his father could be more generous like other dads.
Despite his reputation, Jamnadas believes his thriftiness is for the greater good, hoping to save enough money for his family’s future. However, his extreme parsimony starts to take a toll on his relationships. Kavita feels neglected and unappreciated, and Sunny starts distancing himself, feeling that his father values money more than family.
The turning point comes when an unexpected crisis hits the family: Kavita’s elderly father falls seriously ill and requires expensive medical treatment. For the first time, Jamnadas is faced with a situation where he must choose between his love for his family and his obsession with saving money.
