The story begins with Emma Harper, a driven and career-focused woman in her early 30s, who has been working tirelessly to climb the ladder in her event planning career. When her boss assigns her to organize a grand Christmas gala for a prestigious Scottish estate, Falkirk Manor, Emma is both excited and apprehensive. She’s been so consumed with her work that she’s forgotten how to truly enjoy the holiday season. Her personal life has taken a backseat, and she's disconnected from the warmth and joy that Christmas is supposed to bring.
Upon arriving in the Scottish Highlands, Emma is greeted by the breathtaking scenery—snow-covered mountains, rolling hills, and quaint cottages. She meets the MacGregor family, who owns Falkirk Manor. The family is full of warmth and tradition, and they are deeply involved in preserving the heritage of the estate, especially around Christmas time. Among the MacGregors is Callum, the charming and rugged heir to the estate, who seems to have a very different approach to life than Emma. He is down-to-earth, passionate about the history of the manor, and deeply involved in the local community, but he is also slightly disillusioned with the commercialization of Christmas.
Emma and Callum's initial interactions are filled with tension. Emma sees Callum as a man stuck in the past, too focused on tradition and heritage to understand the demands of the modern world. Callum, in turn, finds Emma's business-minded approach to Christmas impersonal and shallow.
